TSSW Announces Open Position for Associate Dean of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) and Student Experience

Dear TSSW Community,

The mission of the Tulane University School of Social Work includes enhancing “the well-being and equitable treatment of diverse individuals and communities,” and achieving that begins within our School, its students, and you, our valued faculty, and staff. Student feedback continues to be a valuable resource to fostering diversity, belonging, and supportiveness in and out of the classroom. I’m pleased to announce a continuation of those efforts with a national search for an Associate Dean of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) and Student Experience.

This newly created position is a 12-month non-tenured clinical faculty position that aligns with the University’s Strategy for Tomorrow and Key Initiatives, serves on the TSSW Administrative Team, and reports to the Dean. The Associate Dean of EDI and Student Experience will lead the school’s work to embed equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) and Anti-Racism work in the TSSW, collaborating with university partners and promoting the well-being and success of students across programs from registration through graduation.

The Associate Dean of EDI and Student Experience will as serve as an additional co-chair of the School’s Empowering Change Task Force, to support implementing EDI and Anti-Racism initiatives to ensure a student-centered approach throughout the student experience. They will strive to embed these values into the learning environment by fostering and promoting a culture that centers EDI and Anti-Racism and a respectful climate.

For our students, the Associate Dean of EDI and Student Experience will assess and make recommendations to improve and promote student engagement and well-being, serve as an advocate for the student body, act as a liaison with the administration and faculty, develop and support programming and organizations, and foster effective and meaningful communication among students with faculty and staff. They will also connect students to health and behavioral health services on campus as well as manage the student academic and professional conduct processes and grievances.

The search committee includes Anneliese Singh (Associate Provost & Chief Diversity Officer), Tiffany Smith (Manager of Equal Opportunity and Resolution Management), Deidre Hayes (Professor of Practice), Susan Davies (Associate Dean of Research), Petey Peterson (Director of Office for Gender and Sexual Diversity), and Patrick Bordnick (Dean).
