Revised TSSW Academic Calendar for Fall 2021

Dear TSSW community,

Thank you for your ongoing attention to messages from Tulane University leadership and for your patience with the evolving conditions after Hurricane Ida. Tulane University School of Social Work has adjusted its academic calendar to align with both University dates as well as the requirements of our programs.

Revised Academic Calendar

You will find the calendar published on this webpage. Please note the change in the Fall Break, extension of class and field dates, and the December make-up dates for Thursday and Friday classes. We are still working on shifting modules, readings, and assignment due dates in Canvas.

As for the resumption of classes, we will hold virtual sessions for all our students - on-campus and online - starting Monday, September 13 and going through Wednesday, September 22. These will be on the same dates and times as previously scheduled, and Zoom links and details for on-campus students to access their classes virtually are forthcoming. We will hold a fall break September 23 through 26 and resume classes on Monday, September 27. Beginning Monday, September 27, those in on-campus programs will attend their classes in-person.

For DSW students, we will keep the remaining live sessions October 16 and 17, November 13 and 14, and December 4 and 5, and your individual professors will communicate additional information about specific coursework changes.

Should you have any questions about the revised Academic Calendar, please feel free to reach out to your Program Director.

With the guidance of University leadership, TSSW Administration is still considering the date and format of a Commencement Ceremony for our graduating students, and more information will be shared in a later communication.

Collaboration & Flexibility

As expressed in the recent message from Tulane's President, Provost, and Chief Operating Officer, we intend to be collaborative and flexible with faculty, staff, and students with regards to their personal needs. Let your supervisor or program director know if any hardship prevents you from returning to work or class, and they will work with you.

We hope that you and your loved ones remain safe and well, and please reach out if you have questions or need any type of support. For all updates and information as the Tulane community moves forward after Hurricane Ida, please visit the Forward TUgether site.
