Dean's Message to Alumni

Dear Alumni,

Tulane University School of Social Work draws passionate people from a variety of backgrounds to do work that matters. As an alum, you know this more than anyone else, and we appreciate your continued commitment to improving the lives of others wherever you are and whenever you can.

This passionate drive unites you with what’s currently happening at the School of Social Work. This fall brings more than 300 students to carry on your tradition of empowering individuals through strong training in clinical and community-based practice.

We have developed innovative ways to connect to our local community through our Downtown location. The monthly Elk Place Health Spot recently celebrated two years of providing health screenings and behavioral health-related information for people at the largest mass-transit stop in our city. We would love to have you visit us for a tour or at any of our upcoming Health Spots.

To continue connecting you to our students and programs, we are pleased to launch a few initiatives. The first of which is an alumni newsletter, where we will share the remarkable stories of our faculty, staff, and students.

Additionally, we are committed to improving engagement through our new Director of Alumni Relations, Christiana Lederman, who will work directly with me to keep our alumni informed. Reach out to her at clederma@tulane.edu with your own ideas or to get involved.

Our first alumni event of the year will be at our Tailgate Party during this year’s Homecoming festivities on November 2. Our alumni board is organizing this wonderful way to bring our community together. More details are forthcoming, and we look forward to seeing you there.

We hope to build a comprehensive community where our alumni, faculty, staff, and students will collaborate to fulfill the School of Social Work mission. Please join us in celebrating the ways we are all doing work that matters.

All the best,

Patrick Bordnick, PhD, MPH, MSW
