Welcome Students - A Message from the TSSW Dean

Welcome Students!

Whether you’re joining the Tulane University School of Social Work in your first semester, starting your last, or sitting somewhere in between, we are so happy to welcome you this week. You are part of a bright, engaged, and motivated collective committed to transformative education, research, and community.

Each semester, I’m impressed with the knowledge and experiences individuals bring with them to our programs. New students arrive with a wealth of expertise from which we can learn, and our returning students continue to leverage their community work to enrich classroom discussions. Your spirit of collaboration and determination combines with that of our faculty and staff to create meaningful opportunities for growth and reflection for everyone at TSSW.

Graduate school is not a solo experience, and we hope you make personal and professional connections that last throughout your program and beyond. Be sure to reach out to your faculty, staff, and classmates for information, resources, and support. Don’t hesitate to engage with others or ask questions. Even if answers are not known, you will enjoy the experience of discovering them together.

No matter where you are within your program, you will advance your knowledge and skills this semester, and we are grateful you have chosen to embark on that endeavor with TSSW.

Sincerely,
Patrick
