Mutual Aid Approaches for Disasters and Beyond

Every day and especially during events like the COVID-19 pandemic and natural disasters, mutual aid serves a valuable means of supporting the immediate and long-term needs of individuals and communities. Its foundations lie in the importance of human relationships, service, and social justice, which are core values for the social work profession. As such, the Tulane University School of Social Work has invited representatives of mutual aid and volunteer organizations to speak about their approaches at the October Elk Place Health Spot. Join us for a virtual panel discussion on Thursday, October 28, 2021 from noon to 1:30 pm CT.  Registration below is required.

TSSW shares information and resources with the community as an extension of our Elk Place Health Spot, and since the pandemic, we’ve been doing this virtually. These webinars are free and open to any one that wants to learn, and we hope the information our panelists provide informs and inspires attendees toward action.

Featured Panelists:

  • Devin De Wulf, Krewe of Red Beans / Feed the Second Line
  • Reverend Ben Groth, Bethlehem Lutheran Church
  • Dr. Agnieszka Nance, Tulane Center for Public Service
  • Sara Rubbins-Breen & Tenaj Jackson of New Orleans Community Fridges (NOCF)
