Students in Social Work: Deslie Bonano-Broussard

With the last day Social Work Month, the TSSW Student Government Association is pleased to present another candidate within our Doctor of Social Program and her TSSW experience. Meet Deslie Bonano-Broussard (She/Her/Hers) from Slidell, LA.

What is your area of focus in social work practice?

My main area of focus is trauma therapy with women and children. I provide services to foster children within my practice and find our journey together to be one of growth and reward for both practitioner and client. As a component of this practice focus, I incorporate yoga as a means of teaching introspection and finding safe space and self -acceptance within the body.

What has been the highlight of your experience at TSSW?

The highlight of my Tulane School of Social Work experience has been my professors. Re-entering school after 21 years evoked fear and anxiety. The professors have all been so supportive and encouraging that I quickly learned I could successfully walk this journey. Their caring interactions with students have further supported my future aspirations to be an educator.
