About Us

Social workers see potential in everyone. They examine people within in their environments and build upon personal, cultural, and community strengths for healing and growth. Assessing mental and behavioral health needs and determining an effective means of addressing them is how social workers support individuals, groups, and society as whole. That knowledge, skill, critical thinking, and capacity has to be developed. Whether providing individual clinical treatment as a licensed social worker, writing policy as a community advocate, or overseeing risk mitigation or disaster management operations, they need a strong foundation.

That’s what Tulane University School of Social Work provides. Our innovative, top-tier, high-touch graduate school equips future leaders with clinical and community-based practice training to empower individuals, families, and communities. For over 100 years, our students have received a transformative education steeped in engagement, research, and excellence.

Everything the School of Social Work does puts knowledge into practice to help others, no matter who or where they are. Our faculty engages in innovative research and education that is transferrable anywhere, so that students can extend what they learn into our community or across the globe to affect change from the personal to societal level. Students have a choice in how they focus their learning and engage with information. They can elect a Master of Social Work, a Doctorate of Social Work, a Master of Science in Disaster Resilience Leadership, or one of our dual degree programs with Public Health, Law, or the MSW/MS-DRL. We also offer the MSW, MSW/MS-DRL, and DSW in an accessible, quality, high-touch online learning environment.
