Alumni Association

The Tulane University School of Social Work Alumni Association is made up of all graduates from the MSW, DSW, DRLA, and Duel-Degree programs of the School. Alumni engagement events and endeavors are facilitated by the Director of Alumni Relations and the Alumni Board who is focused on promoting and supporting the Tulane School of Social Work in its mission and programs.

Alumni Board members must be alumni of Tulane’s School of Social Work and must abide by the code of ethics of the National Association of Social Workers. Nominations for the board are welcome and will be considered on a rolling basis.

Find a Job

The School of Social Work hopes to help our alumni and recent graduates gain employment in the social work field. Handshake offers a variety of tools to help you on your professional journey. If you find that you don't have a Handshake account already, reach out to socialwork@tulane.edu.

Get Started with Handshake:

  1. Log in to Handshake. Use your Tulane ID and password and log in to the Handshake Portal. 
  2. Fill out your profile. Some of your information will already be in your Handshake profile. Check to be sure all information is correct and fill out the remainder. Take the career interests survey to optimize your job search. To see jobs posted specifically by our alumni, make sure you add "Social Work" under the "major" portion of your profile.
  3. Upload a document. You will want to have a public resume available in Handshake for employers to see. 
  4. Go to the Jobs page and filter for the type of job you're seeking. A few Job Role options that may suit you are Child, Family, and School Social Workers, Healthcare Social Workers, Mental Health and Substance Abuse Social Workers, and Miscellaneous Social Workers.
  5. Follow jobs and employers you are interested in. When you follow an employer or a job, you will automatically start receiving information about the company or job so you will not miss out on updates or new opportunities.

Throughout their careers, social workers, especially those that want to obtain and maintain licensure, must continue building their knowledge and skills to better empower the individuals, families, groups, and communities they serve. Our Center for Lifelong Learning (CLL) facilitates a diverse collection of continuing education opportunities.

If you find that your account has not been approved within 48 hours, have questions about how to post a job, or otherwise need help, please reach out to socialwork@tulane.edu
