Research Centers & Initiatives
Our research centers and initiatives allow students to help the community by focusing on research that can directly impact the community and their needs. Through workshops, presentations, publications, immersion programs, and advanced learning opportunities, our students put forth focused efforts in a broad scope of pressing issues facing our communities, our country, and our world.
Research Highlights
The evidence obtained through research at our centers by students and faculty is often used in local applications to advance the progress of programs throughout the region. Highlights of our research include:
- Gulf of Mexico Research Initiative (GoMRI), which investigates the impacts of the Deep Water Horizon disaster
- Support and parallel programming for NOLA for Life and other New Orleans city programs established to promote the health and future of today’s highly vulnerable children
- Elk Place Health Spot, which offers free resources for physical and mental health needs at a busy public transportation stop
