Biography
Michael Forster, PhD, MSW is professor emeritus of social work at the University of Southern Mississippi. Before joining the USM faculty in 1994, he served for fourteen years as a direct service social worker, supervisor and administrator in Chicago child welfare organizations. Forster co-founded the Family Network Partnership, a community-based agency affiliated with the School of Social Work providing services to disadvantaged youth and families on the low-income east side of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He currently serves on the board of Common Cause Mississippi and as co-chair of the social justice committee of NASW Mississippi. Forster is author or co-author of more than fifty academic works, and maintains a blog on political matters of interest to Mississippi social workers.
