Miya Tate

Biography

Miya Tate is the program coordinator at the Tulane School of Social Work. They hold a Bachelor of Science in Child and Family Studies and a Master of Social Work from Louisiana State University, where they explored the impacts of minority stress on mental health in marginalized populations. Their research on factors affecting LGBTQ+ well-being and sense of belonging has been published and awarded by the American Public Health Association.

In addition to their scholarship, Mx. Tate has spearheaded youth development initiatives and interned with health organizations across Louisiana. Through these experiences, they have developed program coordination, research, data analysis, and community collaboration strengths. Passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion, Mx. Tate mentors emerging social work scholars on prospective research and advocacy initiatives. She strives to promote meaningful change through her work at Tulane and beyond.
