Biography

Dr. Sims received his PhD in social work from the University of Georgia. During his doctoral program, he received 2 years of training in infectious disease epidemiology. His clinical and research expertise are in clinical management and public health management of co-occurring psychiatric and health conditions. In particular, his research is focused on public health management and clinical management of liver disease caused by hepatitis C virus (HCV). Dr. Sims is a fully licensed clinical social worker and he has worked in public health, medical, and hospital settings, including private practice as a psychotherapist. He has 8 years of experience teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level, including teaching fully online and hybrid courses.
