Professor appointed to editorial board of Key Must Knows in Resilience Science

We are excited to announce that Dr. Reggie Ferreira, Director of the Disaster Resilience Leadership Academy (DRLA), has been selected to serve on the Editorial Board of Key Must Knows in Resilience Science, a prestigious platform guiding resilience policy on a global scale. This role represents a significant milestone not only for Dr. Ferreira and DRLA, but also for the broader field of resilience research and its real-world applications.

The Editorial Board, which is a collaborative effort sponsored by the Stockholm Resilience Centre (SRC), the Global Resilience Partnership (GRP), and Future Earth, will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of resilience science. This responsibility aligns with Dr. Ferreira’s deep commitment to advancing the field and creating actionable knowledge that can be used by policymakers and practitioners worldwide.

The Editorial Board's duties are extensive and impactful. Over the next year, Dr. Ferreira will participate in meetings every 4 to 6 weeks to deliberate on key reports and discuss the direction of global resilience policy. The Editorial Board will delve into the selection of the Must-Knows—essential scientific insights in resilience—which will be presented at COP30 (Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) in Brazil in 2025. The report will inform UN policies related to climate change, including the implementation of the Paris Agreement.

The report "will guide resilience policy globally," said Dr. Ferreira. "To say I am excited is an understatement."

This appointment is not only a testament to Dr. Ferreira's expertise and dedication but also to the growing influence of resilience science in shaping global policy on disaster management, climate change, mental health, and community well-being. Through their involvement in this influential board, Dr. Ferreira will continue to impact the trajectory of resilience science, ensuring that it remains both scientifically rigorous and socially relevant.

We look forward to the significant contributions that Dr. Ferreira will make in this exciting new role and celebrate this well-deserved achievement in their career.
