Faculty Awarded Supplemental Federal Research Funding to Promote Resilience in Native American Families

The National Institutes of Health has awarded TSSW Associate Professor Dr. Catherine McKinley a supplement to the previous Research Project Grant (R01) for an effective, sustainable, culturally-relevant, and family-centered intervention for alcohol and other drug (AOD) abuse and violence among Native American families.

This additional funding goes directly to support participant stipends/compensation, which will serve to bolster family incomes during this time of great economic hardship for many. It also goes to a text-based digital enhancement to the intervention.

We are thankful to Dr. McKinley and her efforts which provide benefit and relief to Gulf Coast Indigenous communities during this time of devastation and loss for many.
