We invite prospective students for master's and doctorate degree programs at Tulane University School of Social Work to complete an online admission application.
Prospective Graduate Students
Master of Social Work and Master of Science in Disaster Resilience Leadership have separate admission requirements.
Entrance into the Master of Social Work (MSW) program is open to students with a bachelor's degree, preferably in a liberal arts field. Preference is given to applicants with a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) or higher on a 4.0 scale who have demonstrated a strong performance in their junior and senior years of their undergraduate program, excelled in a postgraduate degree program, or have compelling employer references.
Those applying for Advanced Standing in the MSW program must have obtained a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) within the past five years, have a 3.3 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale, and have a minimum of a B+ average in their field practicum.
Admission into the Master of Science in Disaster Resilience Leadership Program takes into account undergraduate and graduate courses and grades, letters of recommendation, a personal statement of purpose, and GRE scores.
Candidates for dual degrees must apply and be admitted to both programs separately.
Prospective Doctorate Students
Applicants to the Doctorate in Social Work (DSW) program must have an MSW from a CSWE-accredited school, a minimum 3.3 GPA in both undergraduate and graduate school, and three or more years of social service agency employment (or equivalent employment experience post-MSW).
