Biography

Dr. Hancock-Shaw received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Kentucky, as well as Masters and Doctorate of Social Work from Tulane University with a Certificate in Global Social Work. He is a Certified Sex Therapist with the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists and is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing by the EMDR International Association. His research and clinical areas of interests include: Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant, Aging, Body dysmorphic disorder, Chronic Illness and Pain, Global Social Work, LGBTQIA Development, Social Work Education, Sex and Relationship Therapy and Trauma.

Dr. Hancock-Shaw is committed to student’s learning while celebrating diversity, equity, and inclusion. His goal is to empower a new generation of radical social workers to address contemporary societal issues.
