Betsy Lopez, MS, PMP, CBCP

Ms. Lopez is a lifelong resident of Louisiana with experience in mitigation, community recovery, and project management. Her interdisciplinary and technical background includes hazard mitigation, environmental science, evaluation, public health, emergency management, and community-based work. Her talent for community development, collaboration, and meeting facilitation started early in her career where she supported New Orleans school recovery and revitalization of the foster care system following Hurricane Katrina. Ms.

Steven D. Gomez, PhD, LCSW, MS, MS

Dr. Steven Gomez is both a medical anthropologist and licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in Texas and Louisiana. His education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Texas A&M University, a Master of Science degree in psychology and a Master of Science degree in applied anthropology from the University of North Texas, and a Master of Social Work degree and Doctor of Philosophy degree in anthropology from The University of Oklahoma. Dr. Gomez is also a proud first-generation college student.

April Duncan, DSW, LCSW, RPT-S

April Duncan (DSW, LCSW, RPT-S) obtained her Bachelor’s in Arts & Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia (2006), Masters of Social Work from Saint Louis University (2012) and Doctorate of Social Work from the University of Southern California (2021). She is the founder of BMH Connect, an organization focused on Black youth empowerment through the use of play therapy. Dr. April is a racial trauma expert and leader in her field in advocating for the mental health needs of Black children. 

Louis Fernandez

As the MSW Field Education Program Coordinator, Louis supports the daily operations of the Field Education Department for the School of Social Work. With a culmination of 24+ years and spanning several states, Louis draws upon extensive experience in financial services for J.P. Morgan Chase and event marketing management for Strat-Comm Associates. Most recently, Louis has supported the general administrative operations for the Tulane School of Social Work. In this role, he has provided daily support to staff, students, and alumni.

Joshua Fegley, MSW, LCSW-BACS

Joshua Fegley, MSW, LCSW-BACS is a Program Manager & Senior Field Education Coordinator at Tulane School of Social Work. In this role he facilitates field placement for students, liaises with field placement agencies and works to support the students in all aspects of the field training experience which is crucial to Social Work pedagogy. Joshua graduated from Susquehanna University with a BA in Psychology in 1997 and earned his MSW from Tulane University School of Social Work in 2003. Prior to this position Joshua worked for 19 years at a non-profit in New Orleans.

Timothy Davidson, MS, MSW, PhD Candidate

Timothy Davidson is currently the program coordinator for the Consortium for Emergent Disaster Resilience (CEDR) where he’s involved in community-based participatory research looking at how to remove barriers seen in disaster recovery programs. He's also a DRLA fellow/adjunct instructor teaching a class he helped design titled "Path to Funding: Grants, Research, and Community Engagement".
