Lanz Christian Bañes, LCSW

Lanz Christian Bañes, LCSW is the newest Program Manager and Senior Field Education Coordinator for TSSW's Field Education Department. He grew up in Southern California. After getting degrees in journalism and photography from Webster University, he spent six years as a daily newspaper reporter in the Bay Area. He received his MSW from the University of California, Berkeley, where his two field practicums were at an LGBTQ center for foster youth and a county child welfare agency. He spent the next several years in child welfare before moving to New Orleans a few weeks before Hurricane Ida struck. Lanz is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Social Work at Tulane University as an on-ground student.
