Shannon Bassett, Executive Assistant to the Dean

Shannon joined Tulane in January 2019 after spending majority of her career as an Executive Assistant in the technology/start-up industry. Before joining the SSW, Shannon worked for the School of Medicine for two years before transferring to the Office of Information Technology where she supported the VP/CIO. Shannon was born in Georgia and raised in Louisiana and was very excited to move back home to her beloved New Orleans after her divorce 9 years ago. She earned a bachelor's degree in management from the University of Georgia and a master's degree in leadership from Shorter University. Shannon is an honorary member of the Golden Eagles black masking Indians tribe, is a member of several local Carnival krewes and is the local stage manager for the Grammy-award winning Hot 8 Brass Band. In her free time, plays tambourine for the Hot 8 Brass band and enjoys everything that makes New Orleans unique including second-lines, festivals and live music.
