Military Social Work

Nearly all social workers will interact with active duty military, their families, or veterans in some capacity and can fill a variety of roles - therapeutic, case management, policy, etc. - in that regard. The Elk Place Health Spot and Empowering Change Task Force have invited members of the Tulane University School of Social Work faculty to offer their insight and expertise in working with this population.

This free virtual panel discussion is open to the public and will take place on August 25 from 12 to 1:30 pm CT. Register via the link below to receive access to the session.

Panelists Include:

TSSW students and alumni with experience with the military and military social work are encouraged to attend to share their stories along with our panelists.

This program has been approved by the Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners for 1.5 General continuing education credit hours for social workers through Tulane School of Social Work.

TSSW shares information and resources with the community as an extension of our Elk Place Health Spot, and since the pandemic, we’ve been doing this virtually. We use a Zoom webinar format to give community representatives the opportunity to speak about important social issues, and previous topics have included juvenile justice, voting, mental health, and vaccinations. Each of our panel discussions draws between 60 to 75 attendees, and we place the recordings on our YouTube channel as an additional resource. Our audience is predominately social workers, but the webinars are free and open to anyone that wants to learn. We hope the information our panelists provide informs and inspires attendees toward action.
