Publication: Linking the Social and Built Environments to Determine Goals and Objectives

Disaster Resilience Leadership Academy Fellow Dr. Alessandra Jerolleman has co-authored a chapter in The Community Resilience Handbook published by the American Bar Association.

"Linking the Social and Built Environments to Determine Goals and Objectives" operationalizes the concepts of community resilience and vulnerability and explores the ways in which the social (including the political and economic) and built environments can be treated as part of a larger system of vulnerability factors that have a significant bearing on community resilience. It also operationalizes the concepts of justice and equity and discusses how these considerations should be factored into community resilience building efforts as well as into the implementation of written and adopted plans.
